The f4 & See It Foundation was created to support and inspire photojournalism and documentary photography in the pursuit of the compelling telling of stories. Stephan coined "f4 and See It" as a play on a long-time news photography adage, "f8 and be there." The rephrasing represents forethought, patience, and a cognitive-emotional awareness of the story playing out in front of a photographer's camera. This approach to photography encourages anticipation of decisive moments while crafting images with purpose beyond their archival worth. The Foundation presents this gallery as a selection of images that reflect more than four decades of work documenting human experiences and emotions.
We are raising funds to produce, print, frame, and tour a gallery consisting in part of what you have just viewed, bringing this work to museums and public venues across the United States. F4 & See It Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a Massachusetts public charity. Contributions are fully tax deductible as permitted by law.
